How to Prevent Refrigerator Repair During the Summer Heat
Refrigerator Repair work hard all summer to keep our food and drinks cold. But the scorching NYC heat can take a toll, leading to breakdowns and malfunctions. As Brooklyn, Manhattan and NYC’s premier refrigerator/appliance repair experts, we are often called in to resolve these cooling issues for our customers. Fortunately, many fridge problems can be solved with simple maintenance and quick repairs.
Refrigerators use a compressor, condenser and evaporator along with refrigerant to remove heat from the refrigerator, maintaining a steady cool temperature. However, over time the appliance can wear out and require replacement parts or even a complete replacement. The best way to extend the life of your refrigerator is to keep it clean and well-maintained.
Check the Refrigerator Light
A dim or no fridge light may indicate a burned out bulb or a plug that’s partially unplugged. A light that comes on but doesn’t stay on could signal a bad door seal, while a light that shuts off repeatedly could indicate a faulty defrost control system.
Feel the coils on the back of your refrigerator to determine if they’re warm to the touch. If they are, it may mean the coils are wearing out and need replacing. Vacuuming the coils and pulling away dust, lint or pet hair can help.
